His Grace Bishop Mar Yousif Habash

Eparchy of Our Lady of Deliverance in Newark of the Syriacs
317 Avenue E
Bayonne, NJ 07002

Then I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, “Write: „Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.‟“. “Yes,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them.”
Revelations 14:13

Dear Your Grace,

Greetings and Peace from Our Lord Jesus Christ be with your grace.

On behalf of the Coptic Orthodox Church of St. Mark of Jersey City, please accept our deepest condolences for the barbaric murder of 53 souls of worshippers at the Sayidat al-Nejat Syrian Catholic Church in Karada, in the city of Baghdad in Iraq on October 31, 2010. Also we pray for the speedy recovery of the rest of those who were injured in this terroristic attack on priests and parishioners who were celebrating mass inside the church.

The Coptic Orthodox Church has also borne the cross of persecution throughout her history. His Holiness Pope Shenouda III has expressed earlier today his deep sorrow over what occurred in the Church in Karada. On behalf of our congregation, we stand in solidarity with you at this difficult time. May the Lord repose the souls of those who were martyred and comfort their grieving family members. They are all in our prayers and thoughts.

Sincerely,

Hegumen Fr. Abraam Sleman
